Who Am I?
My name is Cole Carver, I was born in Utah and currently live in Salt Lake City. I have always had a passion for computers. I’ve been an avid gamer since I was a child, always curious about what lies beyond the borders of the game world. That curiosity led me into a fascination with problem solving. I loved to see how my favorite games were developed and how the weird, specific issues the developers encountered were solved. Eventually I became so interested that I taught myself some code to get a good grasp on how a system actually works.
In 2019, I built my first PC. I really wanted to play a game called Risk of Rain 2 but it wasn’t available on consoles and that is what pushed me to make the decision. I found someone online willing to help me find parts and taught me what I need to look out for when shopping for them. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to build 3 more computers, 2 for family and 1 for a friend. They have all been happy with the results.
I’ve also been the go-to tech guy in the family for a long time. If there’s a problem, I’m the one they call. I did malware removal, hardware diagnostics and replacement and I fixed many, many software issues over the years including OS corruption. My proudest fixes are both for my brother, his PC took on water damage and I was able to locate the malfunctioning part and send it to an expert in micro-soldering to fix just that part for about $100. If we sent the entire PC to a shop, they likely would have refused to take it altogether or charged well over $500 for the repair. The other repair was for a seemingly bricked Steam Deck with a very strange and specific OS related problem that took hours of research and attempting things to fix, but it did get fixed and works normally now. After all of these repairs, I am ready and excited to help others with their PC related needs.
Why am I doing this?
I am very excited at the idea of getting unique problems that I get to solve on a regular basis. I truly enjoy the process at every stage, regardless of how monotonous it might seem to someone looking in.
Beyond the simple passion for the hobby, I want to expand into a business that allows me to improve my living situation and provide for my girlfriend and cats, maybe a family in the future.
This is my dream, and I’ve chosen to chase it. I hope that I will have the opportunity to share my love for technology with the world.
